Maurice Coleman returned to Anbusea, reappearing in major news outlets as if nothing had changed. The world seemed calm and undisturbed.
Inside the O’Connor family’s study, a faint incense burned, its warm glow bouncing gently around the room, creating a miniature world cut off from the cold outside. Callie was hunched over her laptop, working on the latest project plan, visibly frustrated. “All these endless data streams—it’s nowhere near as interesting as design work.”
The man beside her glanced up, his hand holding a calligraphy brush. He paused his writing to smile faintly. “You’ve already mastered the architectural field. Starting fresh in a new domain isn’t a bad thing.”
“Starting is fine, but if you can’t dive deep, you’ll lose your mind eventually,” Callie retorted, shutting her laptop with a snap. She picked up Grape, who had been quietly watching cartoons. “That’s an hour now. No more screen time.”
“Mom, I like this,” Grape murmured, resting her head on Callie’s shoulder
