Chapter 4120
Caroline moved first, exiting the elevator.
Adrian blocked her path, refusing to give way.
Caroline did not want to argue with her brothers, so she simply sidestepped and continued toward the CEO’s office. The Clark brothers watched her leave.
“Let’s go, Adrian.” Justin entered the elevator first.
Adrian withdrew his gaze and led Jason into the elevator.
“I heard Darren’s out on a business trip and has been sent to another province to handle some matters, so he won’t be back for at least ten days to half a month,” Jason shared in a low voice.
“And for the past few days, Caroline’s only been accompanied by those few bodyguards of hers. There really hasn’t been any sign of Darren with her. I’ve asked someone to look into it and verified Darren left Jensburg by flight a few days ago. What do you think, Adrian?”
Adrian replied under his breath, “We’re at work. Don’t talk about that here. We’ll talk about it when we get home tonight.”
Justin and Jason immediately shut their mouths.
Soon, the elevator reached the level their offices were on. The brothers put on furious looks and walked out of the elevator, cursing Liberty as they walked back to their respective offices.
This was for everyone else to hear. After all, they and Liberty did not get on from the get-go. It would be more suspicious if they did not make a fuss about it.
As for the three vice presidents’ constant cursing of the new CEO behind her back, the employees on this level were all used to it.
Some would secretly tattle on them to Liberty, wanting to use this opportunity to get on her good side and hop on her boat, while some acted indifferent and focused on doing what they should do.
Yet some others would report this to Caroline, secretly and not-so-secretly, hoping that Caroline would not give up control of Fisher Enterprise.
The moment Caroline left Fisher Enterprise, the new CEO would definitely get rid of the three Vice Presidents Clark and they might even end up in a very miserable state. Everyone knew about the bad blood between the new and old CEOs, and the three Clarks were the previous CEO’s biological sons.
They did not even have to think about it to know it was impossible for the new CEO to tolerate the sons of her enemy staying in the company.
However, compensation had to be given when dismissing company veterans. The new CEO was probably unwilling to give such compensation and would only crack down on them, hoping they would resign and leave of their own volition.
Meanwhile, in the CEO’s office, Liberty’s ears were inexplicably a little red.
Caroline spotted this and said, “Why have your ears suddenly turned red? My adoptive mother said before that if a person’s ear turns red for no reason, someone’s cursing or talking about you behind your back really badly.
“I happened to bump into my brothers on my way in. They’re probably the ones cursing you, and really viciously too.”
Liberty rubbed her slightly hot ears and said, “I highly doubt they’d be complimenting me even if they weren’t cursing me. They’re probably grumbling about quitting. After the handover, they went on sick leave and stopped coming to work.
“But for the past few days, they’ve been coming to work on time every day, without going back early too. Although they’ve still been slacking off as usual, their punctuality is commendable.”
Liberty was obviously being sarcastic.
Caroline chuckled. “They’ve probably heard that Darren’s away and is scoping out the situation.
“How would they make a move if they didn’t come back? I really hope they get on with it. Their lack of determination to take action just makes me look down on them.”
Liberty burst out in surprised laughter. “Everyone else fears being backstabbed, but you look forward to it. Has Darren already returned?”
“Yep, he’s hidden himself well. Their connections and abilities won’t be enough to clue them in that he’s already back.”
