Alpha Wade’s voice cut through the hospital lobby like a scalpel—calm, cold, and sharp enough to bleed you before you even knew you were hurt. He didn’t raise it.
Didn’t need to. Every person within earshot froze like a deer in headlights.
“I don’t give a damn who's watching," he added, glancing at the nurses, patients, and one poor intern who looked ready to pee his scrubs. “Cleanup’s gonna be a bitch, but I’ll handle it."
The gun in his hand didn’t waver. Neither did he.
And across from him, Matteo stood his ground—arms tense, jaw tight, eyes locked on Wade like he was daring him to pull the trigger.
I had exactly one option.
A desperate, reckless move that went against every survival instinct howling inside me.
“I’ll go with you," I said, voice low and bitter, like swallowing broken glass. “Just—let me see my son. One last time."
My fingers curled into fists so tight my nails left half-moons in my palms. Sweat slid down the back of my neck.
