"Noah! What are you saying? He's injured too, can't you see?" I hadn't meant to shout, but my voice rose involuntarily.
Anger burned hotter than I expected, even overshadowing the pain beneath my bandages.
Keal sensed the tension between me and Noah and reassured me, "Calm down, Silvia."

I frowned. "You nearly died too. If he wants to get angry and demand answers, he could at least wait until later."
I hadn't realized it then, but this was the first time I'd ever stood against Noah—the brother who had protected me since childhood.
