"Silvia?" Noah's sleepy voice cut through the tension. "What's going on? Why are you talking to him like that?"
I turned to find my brother standing on the bottom step, his brow furrowed in confusion.
My throat tightened as if I'd swallowed broken glass.
How could I explain when the truth would shatter him?
Alpha Sherman looked worse in the morning light.
He hadn't changed clothes since last night - his expensive suit jacket was draped over one arm, wrinkled beyond recognition.
His blue dress shirt was untucked, collar crooked, and his usually perfect golden hair looked like he'd been running his hands through it all night.
He stood there like a man who'd lost everything precious to him.
The three of us stood frozen in an awkward triangle of silence.
