Elodie felt a flicker of disappointment.
She’d been waiting for her uncles, particularly the sneaky Sebastian, to make their move.
Kicking them out of the company had been a gamble, a dare.
If they had anything to do with her parents’ deaths, if they still craved control of the company, surely they wouldn’t just be twiddling their thumbs and sulking in the shadows.
Oh, they’d thrown a few stink bombs: crashing the yacht party, spreading rumours about her competence that wouldn’t fool a goldfish, and maybe – just maybe – unleashing that walking cliché of entitlement, Win ‘Money Bags, Zero Brains’ Griffith, on her.
But that was it.
Pathetic, really.
Amateur hour fireworks compared to the murderous attempt made on her parents.
Elodie had secretly wished for more action.
