"You mean how she was back in high school?" Rupert asked.
"No. I mean much younger. Seven or eight years old, maybe. She used to be shy and soft-spoken but really kind. I went back to my family estate with my parents. I got separated from the nanny. It was she who found me and led me out of the woods."
Rupert's eyes widened. "Damn! So you and Lia go way back, huh?"
Lucien nodded. "I swore then and there I'd take care of her for the rest of my life."
