The room was quiet except for the soft ticking of the clock on the wall.
I sat on the small sofa in Logan’s study, my fingers nervously twisting together. Logan stood near the tall window, his arms crossed as if he’d been thinking for a long time.
Then he spoke, his voice low but firm.
“Haley,” he said. “I think we should get married.”
I looked up in shock, caught completely off guard. “What… what did you say?”
He turned, meeting my gaze head-on. “I want you to marry me.”
My heart pounded in my chest. “Logan… why?”
He didn’t pause. “For Lily.”
Silence fell like a hammer between us.
He stepped closer, his expression unreadable but serious. “You saw what happened, Haley. Her condition is too fragile. She’s already experienced too much instability. She needs something permanent. Something solid.”
“You mean… us?” I asked quietly.
“Yes,” he said. “I’m not talking about some romantic fairytale. I’m talking about security.
You and me building a life she can rely on.”
