"It's not the right time now," Samuel said. He knew exactly what Adrian wanted to say.
Adrian cast a glance at Abigail, who was happily munching on desserts in her chair.
"She's unbelievably dumb. She'd probably be happily counting money even if she was sold off. Does she really think our family is broke?"
Adrian gritted his teeth, hoping she'd figure things out by now. "If it isn't the right time now, then when is it?"
He remained stubborn as he quickly added, "I'm not thinking about her. I just don't want to keep pretending. I'm not an actor. How long do we have to keep playing along?"
Samuel suddenly chuckled, his gaze fixed on Adrian. "You clearly care a lot about Abby, don't you?"
"No," Adrian flat-out denied it. "I just don't want to keep pretending anymore. Besides, what's there to hide from this little girl? Even if she's truly the same kind of person as Gianna, she can't stir up much trouble in our family."
