Abigail, however, was still unable to understand why Matthew kept stepping in to help her. He could've remained a spectator for moments like the one earlier. There was no reason for him to speak up, let alone intervene. Oh, right, Matthew was Samuel's boss! Abigail slapped a hand on her forehead. How could she have completely forgotten that? With someone as capable as Samuel working under him, it made sense that his boss had a soft spot. "Did it startle you, Abby?" Jayden teased with a dramatic sigh, cupping her face and giving her soft cheek a playful squish. What a stress-relieving feeling that was. Abigail shook her head. "No. It's just that Samuel's boss is nicer than I imagined. I always thought he was just one of those heartless capitalist types who squeeze the life out of the working class. But he doesn't seem so bad now." She then looked at Samuel seriously and asked, "Samuel, your boss must care about his employees, huh? You two must have a pretty good relationship, ri
