Chapter 621
The sweet scent of roses overwhelmed Esther like a crashing wave, almost making her gag. Every thorn on those roses seemed to stab her, causing unbearable pain. Even breathing hurt.
She stood there, unable to move, locking eyes with Bradley in his wheelchair. Despite his handsome appearance, he felt as distant as the sky.
Mandy glanced at Esther and grinned slyly. Did Esther not know that Bradley wanted to marry her for the Pendletons' sake? Regardless, Mandy reveled in Esther's suffering, finding her happiness in their pain.
"Mr. Warner, I can't," Mandy said, her fingers lightly tracing the rose petals. A thorn pricked her, and a tiny drop of blood appeared.
"Please, don't use me in your marriage games," she added.
Bradley's hand caressed his wheelchair's armrest as he met Mandy's captivating gaze. "Mandy, you're mistaken. Everything I've said today is true. If you have doubts, I'll prove it."
Mandy mockingly smiled and replied, "You must be joking, Mr. Warner."
