Before she could reach the doorway, the world tilted — he was up so fast she barely had time to react. David moved like someone who always knew the fastest route to get what he wanted. One second she was walking away, the next an arm was around her waist and she was lifted off her feet. “What are you doing? Put me down!” she snapped, panic rising in her voice.
