"Mom, something happened just the day before yesterday, and you had no idea? Odd. Blake must have known. The police even took his statement," Richard said, stealthily observing Patricia's reaction.
Sure enough, her face turned ashen, and her breathing grew rapid—clear signs of barely contained fury.
"How could that boy not breathe a word to me? What's he up to?" Patricia slammed the table in indignation, her anger fueled by Blake's secrecy.
Richard mentally rejoiced, thinking, Blake, Blake, how will you worm your way out of this one?
To hide something this huge is sheer folly.
"He probably thought it's too old a case and didn't want to worry you and Emerson," Richard added, fanning the flames.
"He must have kept it from you because of Emerson's health. That boy's too filial, for his own good!" Patricia scolded, yet her tone betrayed maternal pride, completely immune to Richard's insinuations.
