Ethan was honestly confused—what had he ever done to Marcus? Every time he'd come to see him, Marcus acted like he owed him money. Anyone else would've quit dealing with him ages ago, but Ethan had long since gotten used to his temper.
"Do you not have anything better to do?" Marcus asked without even lifting his head.
Ethan let out an exaggerated sigh and shook his head, saying dramatically, "You say that every time I drop by. Can't you change the script once in a while?"
Marcus clearly had no patience today. His tone was cold. "Spit it out."
Ethan wasn't the kind to keep things to himself anyway. Even if Marcus hadn't rushed him, he would've still delivered his message. After all, that's what he came here for.
"I just thought I'd be a good friend and give you a heads-up—your wife seems to have slipped out of the office," he said in a lowered, conspiratorial tone.
He even glanced at the clock deliberately before continuing, "It's been hours since I saw her sneak out."
