"Those were all apology gifts," Margaret said, her shoulders slumping as she spoke.
"Apology gifts?" Thomas blinked, realizing he might've missed the point. His expression stiffened. "Wait—did my son get into a fight?"
As he asked, he subconsciously walked over and started massaging her neck. He'd been doing that for over ten years; even when annoyed, it came naturally to him.
Truth be told, when Margaret first heard their son got into a fight, she was ready to march into the school and raise hell. But she hadn't expected to run into Mrs. Sinclair, of all people.
And their son? That kid was dead set on letting it go. Said no need to make a fuss. What could she do?
"Kids scuffle all the time. It's not a big deal," Margaret said, totally calm about it.
