When the last dish hit the table, Elaine gave an apologetic smile to Mrs. Thompson. "Mrs. Thompson, thank you for all your hard work."
"It's nothing, really. We don't often get this kind of lively atmosphere at home..." Even though she looked happy, a trace of unease flickered across her face.
She was clearly uneasy about the unexpected guest, Milton. One moment he claimed to be Elaine's uncle, the next he said he was Oliver's. That alone was enough to make anyone nervous.
Still, since Elaine didn't make a fuss, she didn't want to say much. Even so, she couldn't hold it back entirely.
Elaine caught on immediately. She smiled gently and said, "Don't worry. I'll explain everything to Marcus."
That relieved Mrs. Thompson. "Alright. I'll leave it to you."
"You've been at it all day. Go get some rest now," Elaine said kindly.
Mrs. Thompson nodded. "Okay. Just call me if you need anything."
