"Here's the thing," Elaine decided to come clean, "I've actually been working at the company lately."
"Marcus has been working nonstop every day. I feel bad for him and wanted to help out a bit." She didn't even hesitate before spinning this smooth lie.
"I know I'm not much help, but at least I can do a little."
Paulina immediately looked concerned. "Audrey, you're already teaching and now you're helping Marcus too? Don't wear yourself out, sweetie."
"Don't worry, Paulina, I'm fine," Elaine said with a hint of pride. "You know what they say—life is movement!"
As the words left her mouth, even Elaine felt they were a bit much. Oliver actually got goosebumps from listening to that and felt he'd better make an exit—he couldn't take it.
