Chapter 40 The Banquet of Secrets
Caitlyn's POV
The next morning, I arrived at school and saw Professor Linda.
"Hey, Linda! Good morning!" I greeted her with a bright smile. If I kept pushing and kept testing her reaction, I might have been able to figure out where she stood with me.
"Hello, Caitlyn. Do you need something?" Linda asked, her tone formal as she clutched a stack of documents.
Her expression gave nothing away. She was impossible to read. My usual approach wasn't working for her.
I pulled out the necklace my parents left me. Linda's eyes widened, hesitation flashing across her face. She looked around, then leaned in slightly.
"Getting close to me won't do you any favors, Caitlyn," she lowered her voice and said. "I know who you are. If you want answers, meet me Saturday morning at 8 o’clock at Starlit Café."
Oh, Moon Goddess. It felt like I'd just glimpsed the edge of a massive iceberg, and my heart pounded with anticipation.
After school, I went home, torn between excitement and fear. Ray
