Chapter 287
Lily felt a bit awkward with James holding her hand. Loid gently withdrew Lily's hand from James' grasp. "Please calm down, Mr. Mosley."
Realizing his actions, James smiled sheepishly. "I apologize for my excitement. Ms. Brooks, you didn't come to my house just to visit Anya, did you? You recognized the Redushil she gave you and came specifically to find me, right?"
Lily answered frankly, "Yes. Mr. Mosley, I'd like to sign a contract with you for a long-term supply of medicinal herbs. I'll pay you the market price."
Lily could cultivate some herbs herself, but her expertise wasn't deep enough to grow rare varieties like Stargaza.
After Belinda's death, she realized her medical skills still needed improvement. If someone could supply her with the necessary herbs, she could focus on refining medicines. She was determined to conquer various medical challenges one day.
"No." James shook his head.
"You can state your conditions," Lily said.
"That's not it. It's not that I don't want to sign a contract with you. It's just that we, from Verdant Grove, have already made an agreement with the Morris family. As you're Mickler's apprentice, we're obligated to honor that agreement and provide you with herbs for free."
James invited them to sit inside. Lily followed them without saying anything.
Loid glanced at Lily and understood her thoughts. He then made the decision for her. "The Mosley family and Verdant Grove no longer exist as they once did. Now, Lily is the one discussing cooperation with you, Mr. Mosley.
"Regardless of whether it's with the Morris family or Lily, it doesn't violate your original intentions. But if you still act under the name of Verdant Grove to help Lily, can you guarantee it won't bring trouble to the Mosley family?"
"Well…" James hesitated.
"Mr. Mosley, this is the simplest way to cooperate," Lily said. She knew Michael despised his past and wouldn't be willing to invoke it. She also wouldn't collaborate with James under the name of Verdant Grove.
After thinking for a while, James nodded. "Alright. The name we use doesn't matter. As long as the herbs reach the descendants of the Morris family, I can face my ancestors with a clear conscience."
"Thank you, Mr. Mosley." When Lily and James were discussing matters, James had purposely sent Anya away. After they finished, Emily brought her back in.
Anya sat next to James and glanced at Lily. "Dad, what were you discussing? Why so secretive?" Although Lily was a goddess in her eyes, Anya still saw her as a high school student. Anya didn't believe that a high schooler would have serious matters to discuss with her parents.
"Nothing much. Lily just wanted to ask me for some Redushil to help her sleep better." James obviously didn't want to tell Anya the truth.
"Really?" Anya was skeptical.
Lily flicked her on the forehead. "Of course, it's true. Don't overthink it, kid."
Anya winced and rubbed her forehead, protesting, "You're a kid too."
"I'm an adult," Lily said nonchalantly.
"I… I…" Anya was frustrated. She still had two months before she would be considered an adult.
Watching them bicker, James felt very gratified and couldn't help but praise, "Thanks to you being Lily's desk mate, Anya's personality has improved. She used to be unhappy every day. Ms. Brooks, I really don't know how to thank you."
"Mr. Mosley, there's no need to be so formal," Lily said calmly. Knowing she wasn't one for pretentiousness, James didn't dwell on the topic.
