Chapter 295
Poppy wanted to barge into Loid and Lily's room and beat up Loid. It took her a long time to calm herself.
She was about to leave when Lily noticed her. Lily grabbed her jacket and went out of the room. She grabbed Poppy's wrist and asked, "Why are you here?"
"I'm here to take my papers. I have a training session in the afternoon," Poppy said while looking at the floor as she was nervous that she had been noticed.
Lily looked at the papers in her hands and noticed that it was the papers for the International Physics Competition. "When did you come here?" she asked.
Lily and Loid were both very sensitive, so it would be hard for someone to sneak past them without them realizing it. It was obvious that Poppy tried to hide her presence.
"I came a second ago. I thought you two were resting and tried to be as quiet as possible so I wouldn't bother you," Poppy said. Then, she apologized to Lily for disturbing her.
"It's alright. I'll have Daniel drop you off," Lily said.
"Alright," Poppy replied.
Loid emerged from the room after Poppy was gone. He had noticed Poppy's presence but he didn't say anything about it to Lily as he wanted to see what Poppy would do.
"Don't you think Poppy is being a bit weird?" Loid asked as he gently tucked Lily's hair behind her ear.
"What do you mean?" Lily asked as she turned to face Loid.
"It's fine. I think I'm a little too sensitive because of the recent events."
Loid felt that Lily would've noticed if someone sneaked past them. It might be because Lily was too used to Poppy's presence. Hence, she didn't think anything was weird.
Daniel had phoned Loid ten minutes ago to tell him that his company was hacked, resulting in a loss of 100 million.
Not only that, the Laurier Group was hacked too, causing a loss of three billion. It happened so suddenly that none of the technicians were able to stop it.
Loid's phone rang non-stop as Daniel called him again and again to report on the situation. Loid's expression turned darker as time passed.
Suddenly, he stood up and gripped the phone tightly. "I want to know where the money went," he said coldly.
Loid didn't hang up and was waiting for the technicians to report back to him. However, they were all unable to trace the location of the money.
Daniel was getting more and more nervous as the situation worsened. "Mr. Laurier, we have no way to track the location of the money as the hacker changed its location too quickly. This is bad. We just lost another three billion."
"Ask the Hacker Alliance to take over. Find out who took the money at all costs," Loid said coldly.
Lily was reading a book, and her brows frowned when she noticed Loid's reaction. Loid immediately went out of the room once he noticed that he was affecting her.
Lily looked at him for a moment but didn't think too much of it. After all, they both had their own secrets. He never asked about hers, so she would allow him his privacy in turn.
The Hacker Alliance swiftly stopped any more attacks from happening, and they found out that hackers had donated the money that they stole to the poor children living in rural areas.
Loid couldn't be angry at the hackers for what they did.
The Laurier Group had their own charity funds too, and they would help out the needy every year. It was fine that the money he had lost had been donated to those who needed it more.
However, he was still unhappy that someone did something against his will.
"Keep on working on it. I want to know who is behind this," Loid said. He rubbed his temples as this was the first time he had lost such a huge sum of money. Yet, he had no idea who was behind this attack.
Soon, it was evening. Lily was working on her medical skills as she experimented on a mannequin.
Melanie suddenly walked into her room with a few other people. They were all quite old as they had lots of white hair.
Lily greeted Melanie when she noticed them walk in. Melanie held Lily's hand as she sat next to her. "I've managed to sell all the Signora Cream you gave me. I made a profit of ten million, which I'll transfer to your bank account."
Melanie was always glad to see Lily for she was very helpful to her. After Melanie used the Signora Cream, everyone kept praising her for looking incredibly young.
Then, Melanie recommended the Signora Cream to the people she knew. Everyone trusted her recommendation as she was highly respected in Bridgeport. Although the Signora Cream was rather expensive, everyone wanted to purchase it.
Once the people tried it out, they were incredibly happy with the results and wanted to purchase more of it.
They all wanted to be young again so that they could compete with the beautiful girls who were much younger and prettier. Then, their husbands wouldn't be interested in the other girls since their wives would be very pretty.
"Thank you so much, Melanie. You can just transfer three million to me, you should take the rest of the money," Lily said.
"I don't need the money. It's my duty as your mother-in-law to help you out after all."
"Okay! I'll make sure to give you a present if I find something pretty in the future," Lily said.
"Actually, could you provide me with some more Signora Cream?" Melanie asked.
"I could give you another ten bottles of it. We should keep the quantity scarce so that it'll be incredibly valuable."
"I get what you mean. I'll only sell one bottle of it to each person."
