Chapter 305
It was 10:00 p.m. when Loid and Lily finished eating dinner and arrived back at Anmer Heights. Shaun and Daniel also came to Anmer Heights because they needed to pick up something.
Once Loid's car reached the front gate, the security guard handed him a parcel.
"When was this delivered?" Loid asked. Unless it was an important parcel, there usually weren't any deliveries made after 8:00 p.m. Loid went out around 8:00 p.m. but he didn't receive any parcel then, so he thought it was odd.
"It was delivered just now. The delivery person said to hand it to you," the guard answered.
Loid accepted the parcel and drove into his home. He placed the parcel down once he entered the house. However, Shaun picked it up and said, "It must be an important parcel if it was delivered so late."
He started opening the parcel as he thought it might be from the higher-ups. He thought it was weird too as the higher-ups usually communicated by email.
Loid didn't think too much of it, but once Shaun unpacked the parcel, they heard a beeping sound. Loid, Shaun, and Daniel's expressions darkened.
"It's a bomb!" Shaun yelled. "Everyone run!" Shaun was still holding the parcel as he didn't dare to put it down.
Daniel appeared in front of Loid in an instant. He said, "Loid, Ms. Brooks, please leave right this instance."
Poppy looked on at the situation and a fleeting expression passed through her face.
Yolanda heard the commotion too and came running out. "There's a bomb? What are you talking about? Loid, what's going on?"
Yolanda was always well-protected and had never experienced something like this. She was so scared that her face was as white as a ghost.
"Don't just stand there! Run! There's only one minute left!" Shaun yelled.
Loid pursed his lips and grabbed the bomb from Shaun's hands. Then, he jumped through the nearest window.
Everyone was shocked by his actions. Then, Lily instinctively went after Loid through the window. Loid ran like a madman and he was out of Anmer Heights in a few seconds.
There weren't any other buildings in the vicinity. Loid saw that there were still three seconds left on the timer and threw the bomb as far as he could.
Everyone who came after him lay on the ground to brace for impact. Surprisingly, the bomb didn't explode.
Daniel got up from the ground to investigate the situation. However, Loid stopped him and instructed him to call the police.
Daniel phoned the police and they arrived swiftly with some bomb disposal experts.
The police immediately investigated the bomb. Then, the highest-ranked police came over with the parcel and said, "Mr. Laurier, this is a fake bomb."
Loid's expression darkened immediately while Shaun cussed loudly.
Loid had his hands in his pocket as he scanned the vicinity. His eyes were as sharp as an eagle as he attempted to decipher what had just happened.
First, it was the hacker who stole his money. Then, it was the incident with his computer and now, there was a fake bomb sent to him.
He was sure that the culprit was among the people close to him. The person had to be able to see his every move so that they could attack him in such a precise manner.
The question was, who was it?
