#Chapter 112: I Wish I Never Met You
“Leave?” I echo, not trusting my ears. Did I hit my head in the bathroom? Maybe this is some kind of dream or hallucination. “What about the contract?”
“Null and void,” Neil says. “You’ve done enough. Just get out.”
“But what about Mia? Who will be the nanny?”
“We’ll find someone else.” His gaze slips to the side, like he can’t quite look me in the eye anymore.
It hurts. It all hurts. They’re going to find someone else? Can I be so easily replaced? If that’s true, then why did they try so hard to keep me in the first place? They knew I was special.
Neil knew. When did that change? Unless this doesn’t have anything to do with how I nanny, and everything to do with what happened tonight.
“Are you sure this isn’t your father talking?” I ask.
His gaze snaps back to me. “No. This is my idea.”
I swallow down my nerves and my fear and my hurt, and I ask him, “Why?”
