Chapter 1410
"I'm fine doing it myself. But if you help, I just feel like crying," Maeve said.
Zion sighed, caught between a smile and a frown.
He sprinkled the medicinal powder onto Maeve's wound. A cool, soothing sensation spread over her shoulder, easing the pain.
"Did you used to eat candy whenever you got hurt?" Maeve asked.
"Not me," Zion said.
"What?"
"I don't like sweets," he explained. "Back then, when we were on missions, Liam had a bad temper and was a bit fragile. He got injured all the time.
"Instead of carrying candy himself, he'd stash it in my pockets. No idea if it actually worked, but it seemed to help him somehow."
"No wonder…" Maeve murmured.
"All done." Zion was quick in securing the bandage.
"Now, just focus on resting for the next few days. Don't overthink anything," he added.
"Got it!" Maeve settled into the bed obediently, peeking her head out to ask, "Why haven't you asked me why I'm okay?"
"...I don't feel like asking."
"Why not?" Maeve frowned.
