Chapter 21
When Blair prepared to return the money to the school, they issued another notice. They wanted cash, and she had to deliver it in person.
Blair went to the bank to withdraw the money and headed to the administration office. Rain started falling on the way, and without an umbrella, her dress quickly became soaked. Even so, she clutched the bag of cash tightly against her chest all the way to the office.
She set the bag on the coffee table with a blank expression. "You can keep the money, but I hope the administration will investigate this cheating accusation properly."
The administrator, Margaret Thornton, took the bag and pulled out the bills, running them through a money counter with cold indifference. "Don't worry. We follow campus regulations to the letter."
The sight of the money counter felt like a slap in the face. It was like a humiliation that cut deep.
