Jonathan had one hand gripping my shoulder and the other wrapped tightly around me. "What are you running from?"
He looked down at me, and the moment I tilted my head back, I met those deep, dark eyes of his—cold and distant, completely devoid of emotion.
The night behind him was heavy and dark, as if it were a part of him.
There was a faint scent of tobacco lingering on his clothes.
Suddenly, I remembered the dim red glow I'd seen inside the parked car earlier. He must've been smoking.
I frowned, clearly annoyed. "Let go of me."
Of course, Jonathan didn't. Instead, he pulled me even closer. "Done with the meeting?"
I struggled, trying to push him off, refusing to answer.
Then, suddenly, he leaned down and bit hard at the corner of my mouth. "If you're done, then come home."
His expression was so dark, I couldn't read what he was feeling.
I knew he was probably angry, but I had no idea why he was here looking for me. I thought he'd stopped caring.
