Chapter 9
After saying all this, I walked right up to Eric and held my phone high, making sure the livestream audience could see everything.
His expression shifted in seconds—from thunderstruck to crumbling under the shock of the truth, until his eyes finally reddened with guilt.
I slapped the paternity test against his chest. "If you don’t believe it, you can do another test yourself!"
"I believe you. I do, Madeline, I’m sorry. I really didn’t know." His apology was desperate, his eyes full of guilt.
"Madeline, why didn’t you tell me? It’s all my fault. But our son is innocent. He needs a father.
"I truly didn’t expect things to turn out this way."
I let out a cold snort, my voice sharp with icy sarcasm.
"I ignored you for three years because, to me, you were already dead!
"Only when you stop loving someone can you be so indifferent—care about nothing at all! Eric, I gave up on you a long time ago!
"The only reason I’m divorcing you now is because of a promise made when we married."
