On the way to the hospital, Wilson was driving with the music blasting. After a few minutes, the music stopped, and his voice rang out.
"Derrick may have a sharp tongue, but he's soft-hearted. Don't take what he said today to heart."
Melanie's tone was calm as she said, "He's my boss. I won't."
Even if she were to throw tantrums, she would always stay within the limits Derrick would tolerate.
"You've got a good attitude. Anyone else would've quit long ago. Before you came, he went through quite a few caretakers. You really do have a good temper."
Melanie replied, "If you want to make money, some things have to be set aside."
Wilson understood what she meant, considering that she had a daughter who needed expensive care.
A thought struck him, and he became more serious. "The hospital has financial aid for struggling families. Would you like to apply for it? We could get you public assistance."
