Chapter 96
There was a knock at the door. Melanie quickly tidied herself up before opening it. Derrick was standing there.
She had grown so used to seeing him in a wheelchair that the sudden sight of Derrick standing tall, a head above her, pressed down on her with a crushing sense of pressure.
Melanie's breath quickened. She slowly lowered her gaze to his legs. "Mr. Quinton, your legs…" she whispered.
"I can walk slowly now," Derrick said.
Melanie wasn't surprised. Derrick had pushed himself hard during rehab. In only three days, he had risen from his wheelchair. A week later, he hardly needed a cane. Now, although his steps were a little slow, he was no different from anyone else. He could already live on his own.
Wilson had claimed it would take two months, but clearly that wasn't true.
