Alex grinned and stood, taking Emma’s untouched cup of tea from her and placing it on the tea trolley. Emma stood and smoothed her skirt, causing Jake to break off his conversation and look at her. His eyes skated over her in a completely inappropriate way and she hoped no one else noticed. “I’m going to give Emma the fifty-cent tour,” Alex said. Jake raised an eyebrow at her in question and she smiled. “You don’t need me right now, do you?” she asked. He shook his head. “We’ll be heading over to the dairy soon,” he said, “and I will need you then.” “I’ll take good care of her,” Alex said, slipping her hand through Emma’s elbow. “And we’ll be back in plenty of time for the dairy excursion.” Emma let herself be led out of the room, breathing a sigh of relief.
