#Chapter 168: By the Fire

Edwin carried me inside, our wet clothes dripping snow onto the floor and carpet. I pulled away from his mouth, breathless and flushed from both the cold and the kiss.
“Edwin, we’ll make a mess,” I whispered, glancing at the trail of melting snow we were leaving behind. Poor Hadley would likely have a heart attack.
He just grinned, his eyes dark with desire. “It’ll dry,” he growled, his voice sending shivers down my spine.
He carried me to the sitting room, where the fire was still crackling merrily in the hearth. Gently, he laid me down on the plush carpet, the warmth from the fire immediately seeping into my cold skin.
Edwin’s hands were gentle as he began to remove my wet clothes. He tugged off my mittens first, bringing my cold hands to his lips. He kissed each fingertip, his breath warm against my skin. I shivered as he slipped one of my fingers into his mouth, his gray eyes meeting mine as he gently sucked the snow away.
“Edwin,” I breat
