Chapter 12: His Betrayal
Her eyes couldn’t focus as she slowly turned her head to look at him to see whether he heard her or not. She saw his concerned gaze fixed on her. He rushed something out and hung up, then immediately signaled the driver to stop.
It didn’t even fully stop before she rushed out and released all her guts content onto the side of the road. She drunkenly pushed her hair from her face as she took in huge breaths of air. The cold wind felt so good on her skin. Evonne felt something cool press on her cheeks. She looked up to see Seth offering her a bottle of water. She took it gratefully, struggled to open it, then let out a cry of frustration and handed the bottle over to Seth.
Luckily he understood her and opened it up for her. She drank it messily, rinsing her mouth and gurgling water, then spitting it out. She staggered upright and headed over to Seth, tossing the bottle into the grass.
Evonne grabbed his suit jacket, wiped her mouth on it, and straightened herself. She braided her hair and then pushed him from her path.
“Evonne?” He called her gently.
“The cold air feels so good, right? I want to stay here forever. The reality is hard,” Her tears welled up in the corner of her eyes.
She lay flat on the road and sighed in contentment.
“Evonne, I told you to drink appropriately.” He scolded her gently.
“Aaarrgghh!! Shut up!!” her words had already begun slurring immediately. “I think I was shh.....drugged by someone.”
“What?” He was squatting over her in shock and watching her closely. But why were there two Seth, and why were they all circling over her? He didn’t know how ridiculous he looked. She started chuckling, trying to get the words out, but laughter got the best of her. Suddenly, the urge to sleep engulfed her so hard. There was no way she could resist. She rolled over onto the side and immediately passed out.

Her mind was racing so fast. She slowly opened her eyes, groaning at the bright light that stung her eyes. As she struggled to get up, she rubbed her temples. She fumbled around for her phone and almost screamed when she couldn’t find it under her pillow, where she always keeps it. Evonne looked up and noticed it was already 10.30 a.m. Oh my God! So, what day is it?
The events began to dawn on her gradually, but right around the time it was time for them to return home, it became hazy. She looked around for ideas, gritting her teeth at the constant throb in her head. She was overjoyed to see two pills and water on her bedside table. Her guardian angel was clearly on high alert. It hit her as she gulped them down. It was Tuesday!!! Oh my goodness, she was late for work on her first day! Knowing her husband, she knew he’d return with the contract, so she needed to find it, sign it, and get back to work as soon as possible.
Evonne took a quick shower while she pondered who’d helped her finish her morning ritual by dressing her and changing her clothes. However, she was still experiencing a sluggish feeling. It was all she wanted to do to relax—soak in a tub, sip some coffee, browse the internet, and maybe even catch up with some friends—but things didn’t always work out the way she planned.
She quickly grabbed the first thing she saw. She accessorized her look with a white bandage skirt that reached just below her knees and a black bodysuit with a v-neck. She reached into her closet and pulled out a nude handbag, which she matched with her nude stilettos. Evonne hastily grabbed her glasses and pulled her hair back into a ponytail before doing so.
She went downstairs, turned on the coffee maker, and ignored the looks that the housekeepers were giving her as she continued on her way. While she was carrying out these actions, her attention was drawn to a brown envelope. Directly next to the envelope, her phone was positioned with the screen facing the incorrect direction. She ran over to collect it, and then checked the notifications on her phone to see what had come in. She went to grab her coffee and then saw the text that made her day a million times better than it had been going up to that point. The day had been going fairly well up until that point. After that, she went over to the counter to get her coffee.
Her best buddy from way back when, Toby Menard, was going to be there to see her. She did a small happy dance and then set her coffee down on the counter before grabbing a random set of car keys and walking out the door with the brown package still held in her hand without being opened.
She took a hurried check at the time as she sped out of the parking lot, and when she saw that it was already the middle of the day, she almost peed her pants. She was so surprised. She stepped on the gas pedal hard in the hopes that Seth would be attending a meeting or be otherwise occupied at the time.
She was sure that she had run at least a few of the red lights back there, and she was positive that she had done so. It was a miracle that the cops hadn’t pulled her up on her way there. What a lucky woman she was!!
As she pulled into the company’s parking lot, the thought occurred to her that she could just explain that she required further time to go over the contract before signing it, and the corporation would let her off the hook.
When Evonne came into Seth’s office, she had several different justifications prepared in her thoughts, but she was immediately halted in her tracks by the scene that met her. Little Miss Secretary was lying on her husband’s desk, practically naked, with his dick buried deep inside her. She choked back the tears and sickness that were gradually creeping up on her, and then she cleared her throat. Nothing. Because that bitch was screaming like a banshee, it’s likely that they didn’t hear her over the noise.
