#Chapter 50: Fork in the Road
Aria’s POV
A knock on the door startled me to my feet. It was late– past Joe’s bedtime. I couldn’t imagine who would think to come at this hour.
Pulling the front door open, I was startled to find Liam on the otherside. I could see the exhaustion in his eyes, but there was something else too—a determination I hadn’t seen in a while.
He didn’t even let me get a word in before he spoke.
“We need to talk,” he said, his voice low but firm.
I hesitated, the weight of his presence making the decision hard. I knew this conversation was inevitable, but part of me wasn’t sure I was ready for it.
With a sigh, I stepped back and opened the door wider, silently inviting him in.
He crossed the threshold without a word, and I felt the air shift as soon as the door clicked shut behind him.
“So, what is it?” I asked, crossing my arms as I leaned against the back of the couch. I wasn’t in the mood for pleasantries or long-winded explanations.
