And so, Ariana had to endure Fanny's incessant rambling all afternoon.
By the end of it, the corner of Ariana's mouth was twitching in irritation. She kept glancing at her watch, silently willing time to pass faster—until, mercifully, the clock finally struck seven in the evening.
She let out a quiet sigh of relief.
"I'll have the cook prepare dinner," she said. "What would you like to eat?"
Fanny finally stopped her endless chatter, her expression turning unusually serious as she pondered the question. The two little ones, watching her with wide-eyed curiosity, unconsciously mimicked her thoughtful pose, their tiny hands resting on their chins. The sight was so comical that Ariana nearly burst out laughing, though inwardly, she wondered if she should limit Fanny's time with the children.
She was genuinely worried...
