She was seriously glad she'd scrubbed off that oil from the scissors in the restroom earlier—otherwise, Amelia Johnson would've caught her red-handed just now.
"See? Nothing on my hands," Zoey said with a smug smile, turning her palms up dramatically. "Miss Johnson, accusing me without proof? That’s defamation, you know. I could sue."
Amelia gave a dry laugh. "Sue me for what? For looking at your hands?"
Zoey choked on her reply, glaring daggers at her. "Then I guess I'm off the hook now, right?"
But Amelia stayed calm. Tilting her head slightly, she mouthed a few words to Emily Carter before looking at Mrs. Brown. "Mrs. Brown, just give me five more minutes. I promise I’ll find the one who damaged the outfit."
Mrs. Brown nodded. She trusted Amelia—she just wondered what she was going to pull out next.
Soon, Emily came back and handed Amelia three sheets of white paper.
