Ethan Blackwell didn’t say a word and just obediently followed Lilah Hart out.
In the hallway, Lilah frowned. “What the hell happened?”
Even though Ethan was known for his temper, Gabriel trusted his character. So she wasn't about to jump to conclusions.
“It’s my fault,” Ethan said, his voice dull, probably from the pain. His expression was numbed out.
Lilah instantly blew up. Her hands curled into fists. “You did it? Ethan Blackwell, are you—”
“I didn’t,” he cut her off before she could go off completely, expression still lifeless. “It was the housekeeper. And his daughter.”
“The daughter? You mean the one Clara mentioned before?” Lilah’s face darkened as the pieces clicked. Her fist unclenched a little, then balled up again. “Just a maid, how dare she?”
“Exactly. I’m wondering the same—where’d they get the guts?” Ethan’s eyes flashed cold and vicious. He turned to glance at the hospital room, his gaze heavy with grief. When he looked back at Lilah, his whole vibe screamed exhaustion
