Early the next morning, news of Simone Bennett's fatal explosion made the headlines.
Right where she died, a letter was found. In it, she explained how she'd been falsely accused-she didn't kill Matilda Bennett. She'd been hiding these past few days, living in fear and misery, and now she was using her death to try and prove her innocence.
The public's opinion quickly shifted. People started sympathizing with her, criticizing the police for mishandling the case.
She'd already lost her grandmother, was grieving deeply, and now had been wrongly labeled a murderer and was on the run. It felt like a cruel joke.
Sabrina Evans flipped through the newspaper, but her eyes landed on a smaller article below.
"Unidentified female body found on beach, severely decomposed, no clothing... Police working on ID."
She closed the paper with a long sigh.
