Looking at her overly "dolled-up" self in the mirror, Delia instantly got the chills. She quickly grabbed the silk robe, kicked off her heels, and bolted into the changing room to toss on her pajamas.
"What the hell is Curtis trying to pull this time?"
By the time Curtis came out, Delia was already in bed, pretending to be asleep.
He couldn't help but smile, wheeling over. He reached his arm out and gave her a gentle tug.
Delia stayed limp, clearly not planning on moving. The two of them started this silent tug-of-war.
"Delia?" Curtis called softly, his voice gentle, calm like a quiet stream.
Delia pressed her lips together, then said in a mock-robot tone, "Delia has clocked out for today. Please leave a message after the beep. If nothing urgent, kindly exit the room."
Curtis chuckled low, his voice rough in a way that sounded like mischief. He climbed onto the bed with a sigh and pulled her into his arms, blanket slipping. "So, you're mad?"
