Chapter 326
Alexander Lytton let out a breath of relief, grabbing his coat right away. Still, he couldn't help but keep up the act.
"It’s not like I have to rush. Besides, you’ve got everything under control here. Caleb and Lily are doing a great job. If I stay, I’ll just get in the way."
"You’re not wrong. You are kinda in the way," Celeste Harper chuckled, amused by his stubbornness.
As Alexander zipped up his jacket and turned to head out, she suddenly turned back to him, voice soft.
"Lex, really… thank you. For everything this year."
"That sounds like I’m being set up for something," he quipped, raising an eyebrow before reaching out, pretending he was about to flick her forehead.
She flinched, eyes squeezing shut, waiting for impact. But instead of a flick, his hand gently brushed her forehead—warm and unexpectedly gentle.
By the time Celeste realized what had happened, Alexander had already strode off. From the doorway came his usual cool sendoff,
"I’m off. Call me if anything comes up."
