Scarlett’s POV:
Inside the conference room, seated at the head of the long table, was the investor—David Miller. A middle-aged man in his fifties, with a large belly, a receding hairline, and a flat nose bridged by a pair of gold-rimmed glasses.
I couldn’t bear to look at him for even a second and immediately averted my gaze.
For the first time, I realized someone could wear gold-rimmed glasses in such an offensive way.
The show’s executive director sat next to David, flanked by a young female director.
The female director looked at me, her eyes carrying a hint of concern and sympathy.
I nodded briefly to the director before turning toward the young woman with a small smile. “Hello, Maya.”
The director, Maya, was actually only thirty years old. She was approachable and had been supportive of me since the show began… in fact, she was a fan of my work.
“Miss Shadow, please take a seat,” Maya gently reminded me.
I wasn’t in a hurry. I chose a seat further away from David.
