Davis’s POV
At 9:30, the Rolls-Royce rolled into the driveway of Green Lake Villa and stopped at the front gate.
I put it in park but didn’t turn off the engine. The heat was pumping, but I still felt a chill—one that had nothing to do with the weather.
Everett’s usual coldness was… aloof, intimidating. But now? Now he looked like a man who had nothing left. Cold, abandoned, worn out.
That’s when I really started to worry.
My boss seriously looked like he’d just been taken down by the entire universe.
Did Miss Taylor really find someone else? Was there a guy hiding out in that villa?
I kept my tone light. “Mr. Robinson, uh… just checking on you here. Are you really okay tonight?”
