When Adeline woke up, the caregiver informed her that Sullivan would come to see her. However, he never showed up, not even when she and her parents were cleared to be discharged from the hospital. She thought the caregiver had lied to her. It was only much later that she found out he had gotten into a car accident and sustained grave injuries, nearly losing his life in the process.
