"What a coincidence, huh?" I tried to break the awkward silence.
"Coincidence?" Henry Smith gave me a side glance. "Evan’s being discharged today, Jason’s not in the country. I’ve been here since morning. Waited three hours for you. You tell me, does that sound like a coincidence?"
I didn't know why, but every time I was around him, I just lost my nerve.
I mean, he only sent Lena away, it’s not like he took a bullet for me or made some grand love declaration. So why do I feel like I’ve wronged him somehow, like I don't even have the right to say no?
Even avoiding him feels like I owe him something.
