I didn't need a genie to tell me that they didn't want me there. Worse if all, they were shocked that I even managed to get out of jail somehow.
“W-what are you doing here?” Lily asked, and I cocked an eyebrow at her.
“What do you mean? I just went home to get my clothes changed.” I looked down at my dress. It was one of the most expensive things in my wardrobe.
It was getting harder to keep things together, but Lucien needed me. I didn't have to sit down at his bedside, crying. Even he wouldn't want that. I needed to prove myself innocent first.
She quickly shook her head. “No,” she stuttered. “The police arrested you. I was here. They took you to jail.”
I smiled. It was a dangerous slow smile. “I guess that's one of the perks of being a Cornelli. You can relate to that, can you?”
As if on cue, Lily's mom, Lucien's mom, and Rachel filed out of the hospital waed. Light was still with Lucien, and I thanked him mentally.
