Asher turned to leave the apartment.
When he reached the doorway, he couldn't help but glance back at Zachary. "Aren't you going to leave, Zach? Planning to stick around for the New Year?"
He was clearly warning Zachary not to stick around his wife.
Zachary set the towel down and gave Juliet a gentle smile.
"I'll head out then. Call me if you need anything."
His tender tone was a stark contrast to Asher's usual impatience.
Juliet nodded. "Thanks, Zach. I'll wash your clothes and return them later."
"No rush."
Zachary studied her for a long moment. His gaze lingered on her flushed earlobe.
Then, he turned and followed Asher.
Two tall, imposing men descended the stairs one after another.
The early autumn night was chilly.
Asher leaned against the car as he fished a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket. He flicked one out and handed it to Zachary.
"Thanks," he muttered before lowering his head to light it up.
