"This is such a tragedy. It's just senseless. How could Juliet be so cruel?"

Asher stood by the window with an unlit cigarette held between his fingers. His brow was tightly drawn, his mind fixed on the image of Juliet walking away without looking back and that cutting smile.
At Amanda's words, he rubbed at his temple, exhaustion weighing on him. "Mom, that's enough."
Asher turned around, and his gaze passed briefly over Evangeline on the bed.
"Juliet didn't do it on purpose."
