Chapter 188
Alfred stilled, then looked at Melanie in surprise. "Ms. Schafer, are you acquainted with Ms. Moore?"
Melanie gave him a small smile. "We're friends. Sort of."
Alfred blanched at this. He slowly appraised Sebastian's expression. Upon noting the latter's impassive face and apparent indifference toward the situation, he heaved a furtive sigh of relief.
He quickly dropped Vivienne's wrist and assumed a placating stance. "I see. I didn't know she was your friend, Ms. Schafer. I thought Ms. Moore was new to the industry… How embarrassing for me."
Melanie was backed by Sebastian, and Alfred would be a fool to offend her. He raised his glass at Vivienne apologetically, then said, "It was an honest mistake. I hope you'll forgive me, Ms. Moore."
Vivienne said nothing. Seeing this, Alfred dared not pester her any longer and made up an excuse to leave.
Not long after Alfred left, Melanie glanced at Vivienne. "Are you alright, Ms. Moore?"
"I'm fine."
Melanie's gaze fell on Vivienne's wrist
