Melanie's eyes widened in a panic. Upon sensing that something was off, she forced a small, hesitant smile. "I… I didn't want to falsely accuse you, so I told Mia to check the footage after I woke up. They said there was no surveillance covering that stairwell…" She trailed off, searching for an excuse.
Vivienne was unimpressed. "So, your conclusion is that I pushed you?"
Melanie bit her lip, torn. She wasn't sure anymore whether there was a camera or Vivienne was bluffing.
She was certain she had checked beforehand that there was no surveillance. But now, when faced with this rare opportunity, she knew she couldn't let it slip away.
