“Can we go out this time?”
I stopped what I was doing when Ethan abruptly opened the door.
I nearly had a heart attack; he hadn’t knocked, and I had been enjoying a rare moment of peace. I sighed, set aside the clothes I was folding, and looked at him. His thick brows were knit together in a straight line and his lips were pressed thin, waiting for my answer.
He had been asking to go out for days, but I kept refusing because I felt sick.
My body and mind just weren’t up for it. I wanted to stay home and lose myself in chores. I knew Ethan was bored; since he’d stopped hunting, he was struggling to control his violent urges. He was desperate for a way to ease his restlessness.
“I don’t know, Ethan. I’m—”
He suddenly sat beside me, resting his hand on the back of my neck. He shifted his jaw, his dark, menacing eyes locking onto mine.
He clicked his tongue.
“But you aren’t hot. Are you lying to me?”
