CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN – MY CHILDHOOD HOME
Over the next few days, Kayla felt submerged in a sea of new yet achingly familiar sensations. Her parents' home seemed to hold myriad triggers embedded in every nook and cranny .
And then there were the decades of stored belongings in her old bedroom...
"Wow," Ava breathed out, looking around the room that had clearly remained untouched like a time capsule. "This place is literally a shrine to your teenage self."
Kayla slowly ran her fingers over the spines of well-worn paperbacks lining the shelves, squinting at the faded titles as if they held arcane secrets only she could decipher.
Ava was already pulling out ancient shoeboxes from the back of the closet, filled with yellowed photos and other cherished keepsakes.
"Oh my god, I'd forgotten about this..." she exclaimed, carefully removing a tarnished metal tin. She grinned over at Kayla with a nostalgic glimmer in her eye.
