CHAPTER ELEVEN – A GOLDEN OPPURTUNITY
The next hour passed in a blur of orders and cleanup. Cassie found herself glancing at Marcus's table more often than she'd like to admit. He seemed content to nurse his coffee and watch the comings and goings of the restaurant.
Finally, as her shift wound down and the dinner rush subsided, Cassie found a moment to approach Marcus's table again.
"Alright," she said, sliding into the booth across from him. "You wanted to talk. So talk."
Marcus leaned forward, his eyes locked on hers. "I've been watching you tonight, Cassie. You're good with people, efficient, hardworking. How long have you been working here?"
Cassie shifted uncomfortably. "A couple of years. Why?"
"Because I think you're wasting your talents in a place like this," Marcus replied. "I'm a promoter for The Grey Room. It's an upscale club downtown. We're looking for someone with your skills to join our team."
Cassie's eyes widened. "The Grey Room? I've heard of it. But why me? You don't even know me."
Marcus smiled.
